What is considered acceptable forms of identification for new registration?

Texas Department of Motor Vehicles requires an owner to present a current photo identification when applying for new registration. The following is considered acceptable forms of identification:

  • Driver’s license or state identification issued by a state or territory of the United States
  • Identification issued under a Status of Forces Agreement
  • United States Citizenship and Immigration Services identification document
  • United States Department of Homeland Security identification document
  • United States Department of State identification document
  • United States military identification card
  • United States passport or foreign passport
